Tracker

Crypto Valley ecosystem trackers — company count growth, funding velocity, foundation registrations, and key KPIs for the Zug blockchain ecosystem.

Quantitative tracking of Crypto Valley’s key performance indicators – company growth, funding velocity, foundation registrations, and ecosystem concentration metrics.

The value of any ecosystem assessment depends on consistent, longitudinal measurement. The ZUG BLOCKCHAIN Tracker monitors the core metrics that define Crypto Valley’s scale and trajectory, updated on a rolling basis as new data becomes available from official registries and industry reporting.

Company count is the foundational metric. The ecosystem has grown from approximately 750 entities in 2020 to 1,749 at last count – a 132 per cent expansion reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 18.8 per cent. Within this total, Zug-registered companies number 719, representing a 41 per cent concentration that has remained broadly stable even as the ecosystem expands into Zurich, Geneva, and Lausanne.

Funding velocity tracks the pace and scale of disclosed venture investment. The 56 deals closed in 2024, totalling $586 million, represent an 8 per cent year-on-year increase in both deal count and aggregate capital deployed. The median deal size of $5.6 million – up 70 per cent – signals a maturing ecosystem where later-stage rounds are becoming more common.

Additional tracked indicators include foundation registrations in the Zug commercial register, CV Labs accelerator intake, FINMA licensing activity, and employment estimates derived from SECO data. All figures cite their sources and methodology explicitly.
